Donate for Panna’s Cataract Surgery
Panna Gulmeer's Story
Before you read Panna Gulmeer’s tale of woes, please know that your donations, however small or big they may be, will help her see better. We request you to please donate for Panna’s Cataract Surgery as much as you can.
Panna Gulmeer, a 54-year-old resident of Karachi, has been suffering from opacity in her vision for the last seven months. She visited her local clinic where the doctor gave her some drops for temporary relief. When the problem persisted, Panna Gulmeer visited an optician who diagnosed her with a cataract in her eyes.
A cataract is a cloudy lens. The lens is positioned behind the coloured part of your eye (iris). The lens focuses light that passes into your eye, producing clear, sharp images on the retina — the light-sensitive membrane in the eye that functions like the film in a camera. To treat this condition, the doctor has advised Panna to undergo a Phaco IOL surgery for the left eye. Phaco IOL is short for phacoemulsification with an intraocular lens. This is one of the most effective solutions for recovering and saving eyesight that is deteriorating due to cataracts. First, the cloudy lens is dissolved using ultrasound waves, which are then removed via suction. Then, an artificial lens is inserted in its place.
Unfortunately, Panna Gulmeer cannot afford the hefty cost of the surgery. She is financially dependent on her son who is a laborer and hardly manages to earn PKR 15,000 per month. He told us:
“It feels as if the whole world is going dark around me. Please donate to bring light back into my life.”
To keep Panna Gulmeer’s hope alight, please send in your donations today. Every little bit is an immense help. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Panna’s Cataract surgery. Your help goes a long way.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
