Muhammad Qasim's Story

Before you proceed to read Muhammad Qasim’s story of woes, we want to remind you that you can make a difference. Your help can save Qasim’s life. So, please donate for Qasim’s valve replacement surgery as much as you can.

Since birth, Muhammad Qasim suffered from Cyanosis. Cyanosis refers to a bluish tinge to the skin. It usually occurs when there is a problem in getting oxygenated blood to your body. It is a clear indication of heart-related conditions especially in childhood. Therefore, Qasim’s parents rushed to a nearby local hospital. After a thorough examination, the cardiologists diagnosed Muhammad Qasim with Tetralogy of Fallot. TOF refers to a combination of four different defects of the heart. Later, Qasim underwent open-heart surgery for TOF repair.

Now at the age of thirty, during his follow up visits, the cardiologist diagnosed him to have faulty pulmonary valve. He has been advised to undergo open heart surgery again. In the surgery, the surgeon will remove the pulmonary valve and replace it with a tissue pulmonary valve. Unfortunately, Muhammad Qasim cannot afford this life-saving surgery. Due to his illness, he has been unable to work. Thus, he financially depends on his father, who works as a cleric in a local mosque and earns PKR 10000 per month. He told us:

“It seems as if I have spent all my life in hospitals, outside operation theatres praying endlessly. I thought his open-heart surgery would end his pain, but now he needs another surgery. I am at my wit’s end now.”

After a lot of distress, Muhammad Qasim has registered his case with Transparent Hands. We hope that with your generous donations, we will be able to arrange his surgery for free. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Qasim’s valve replacement surgery.
