Rabia Bibi's Story

13 years old Rabia Bibi hails from the Kasur district of the country and suffered from a condition called an enteric perforation. The condition is also known by the term gastrointestinal perforation (GP) and refers to a hole in the small intestine. None of this information, however, means anything to Rabia. For a poor little child, complex medical jargon means nothing. It is just pain that she has been suffering from the last eight months or so. However, there does exist a treatment that can alleviate Rabia Bibi’s pain. And that surgical treatment is ileostomy reversal. In an ileostomy, the damaged part of the ileum is removed. Then, the end which was cut is diverted into an artificial opening in the abdominal wall.

Rabia Bibi’s parents would have gone for the procedure straight away, had it not been for the financial crisis through which Raba’s family is going through right now. Her father has to support a ten-membered family in the meagre 12,000 PKR that he earns by labouring hard all month. Her first surgery, an ileostomy was done through the help of a public hospital. Now, she needs an ileostomy reversal surgery which an expensive surgical procedure, which the thirteen-year-old girl’s family is currently unable to afford. Hence, the family has asked for Transparent Hands to help them out in these tough times. Her father says:

“I shudder to think what would have happened if there were no Transparent Hands in the first place. I would have had no hope for my daughter, and that is putting things mildly. I have put all of my faith in this NGO and there is nowhere else from where I could seek help”

We hope you realized Rabia Bibi’s father was talking more to YOU than expressing how he is banking on Transparent Hands entirely. It is YOU who has to play a bigger role in this campaign. All that you have to do is DONATE NOW for Rabia Bibi’s Ileostomy!

Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
