Romaisa Bibi's Story

Before you read the details of Romaisa’s ailment, please know that your donation, however small or big it may be, will make a huge difference in her life. Therefore, we request you to donate for Romaisa’s eye surgery as much as you can.

Ever since Romaisa was three months old, she has been suffering from a decline in her vision. Gradually, this decline increased, and now as a thirteen-year-old girl, Romaisa is partially blind in her right eye. She has been suffering from a developmental Cataract. A developmental cataract occurs early in childhood. A cataract is a clouding of the clear lens that eventually interferes with vision. To treat this condition, the doctor has advised Romaisa to undergo a right phaco IOL surgery. Phacoemulsification, or phaco, is a method of cataract surgery in which the eye’s internal lens is emulsified using ultrasonic energy and replaced with an intraocular lens implant, or IOL.

Unfortunately, Romaisa’s parents cannot afford the cost of cataract surgery. Romaisa’s father is the sole earner in the family. He is a security guard and his monthly income is PKR 24,700. With a family of seven to feed, he is in no position to arrange for Romaisa’s surgery. Her father told us:

“Romaisa is the light of our eyes. Her troubles keep me up at night. What if she lost her eyesight completely? What would become of her dreams? Whoever is reading this, please help my daughter.”

After a lot of physical and mental anguish, Romaisa’s parents have registered her case with Transparent Hands. We are determined to help her as much as we can. But, we will not be able to do it without the help of generous donors like you. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Romaisa’s eye surgery without any delay.
