Saeeda Bibi's Story

The simple task of standing up has become an ordeal for Saeeda Bibi. We wish to bring ease to her life, and we need your earnest help for that. Therefore, please donate for Saeeda’s knee replacement.

For the last six years, Saeeda Bibi has been suffering from Osteoarthritis involving her left knee. Her condition has worsened over the last three months, making her immobile. Osteoarthritis is a condition that causes the cartilage in the knee joint to thin out. In consequence, the surfaces of the joint become rougher, thus creating friction. As a result, the movement becomes painful, and the joint becomes stiff. Due to this condition, Saeeda Bibi is not able to get up or walk. Moreover, the pain has become unbearable for her.

To treat this, the orthopaedic surgeon has advised her to undergo total knee replacement surgery. It is a surgical procedure to replace the weight-bearing surfaces of the knee joint. While the knee replacement seems like an easy solution to all of Saeeda Bibi’s problems, it is not an accessible solution. Unfortunately, Saeeda Bibi cannot afford the hefty cost of this surgery. Saeeda Bibi’s husband is the sole earner of the family. He hardly earns PKR 18,000 per month. Therefore they are in no position to arrange for Saeeda’s surgery. He told us:

“In my measly income, I hardly manage the household expenses and rent. Arranging for major surgery for Saeeda is absolutely out of the question.”

Saeeda Bibi's Story

Saeeda, aged 51 years, suffered from a terrible motorbike accident that injured her left knee around six years ago. She also felt pain in her right knee. The pain killers that her local physician prescribed to her only provided temporary relief. On further medical consultation, she was diagnosed to have developed bilateral advanced osteoarthritis of knee joints. The doctor advised surgical intervention. For this purpose, Saeeda was admitted to Patel Hospital and her left total knee replacement was performed by Dr. Nasir Ahmed on 14-06-2021. She stayed in the hospital for five days and was discharged in a stable condition. Saeeda’s left knee has recovered and now she is waiting for her right knee replacement surgery.
