Sahil Masih's Story
Six months ago, ten years old Sahil Masih met with a terrible car accident. In that accident, he sustained blunt trauma to his abdomen. Consequently, Sahil experienced abdominal pain, bloating and discomfort while moving. Upon consistent pain, the doctors decided to operate and performed an ileostomy. In the ileostomy surgery, the doctor created an artificial stoma on her tummy. After his surgery, the doctors told Sahil’s parents that he would need to undergo an ileostomy reversal surgery to restore his bowel continuity back to normal. Despite plenty of efforts, Sahil’s parents have been unable to obtain a date at any government hospital. The cost of surgery at a private hospital is way beyond their affordability. Sahil’s father is the sole earner of the family. He is a Rickshaw driver. He hardly earns PKR 15000 per month. With six family members to feed, he is unable to keep up the household expenses. Sahil Masih's Story
Sahil Masih, 10 years old, sustained a terrible abdominal injury when a car hit his bicycle. He was taken to the hospital where doctors first performed a laparotomy and then a double barrel ileostomy stoma was made on the abdomen. Later, an ileostomy reversal surgery was advised for him. For this purpose, Sahil was admitted in Akram Medical Complex and his surgery was performed by Dr. M. Bilal Mirza on 17.01.2021. He stayed in the hospital for six days and was discharged in a stable condition. Sahil has had a swift postoperative recovery and he has started going back to school now.
