For the last fifteen years, sixty-two years old Saira Bano has been suffering from a lump coming out of genital tract and vaginal bleeding. The doctor diagnosed her with Uterine Prolapse. Uterine prolapse is a common condition that can happen as a woman ages. Over time, and with multiple vaginal deliveries during childbirth, the muscles and ligaments around your uterus can weaken. When this support structure starts to fail, your uterus can sag out of position. It is called uterine prolapse which is an extremely painful condition.

To treat this condition and, to avoid further risks, she has been advised to have a vaginal hysterectomy. Vaginal hysterectomy is a procedure in which, the doctor surgically removes the uterus through the vagina. Unfortunately, Saira Bano cannot afford the hefty cost of this surgery. Saira’s son is the sole earner of the family. He works as a delivery person and hardly manages to earn PKR 15000 per month. With this income, he hardly manages to take care of utility bills and other household expenses. He told us:

Saira Bano, a 62-year-old resident of Karachi, had been suffering from excessive irregular vaginal bleeding along with a lump coming out of her genital tract for the last 15 years. Upon consultation, she was diagnosed with Uterine Prolapse. She was advised to undergo a Vaginal Hysterectomy. She was sent to United Hospital to get her procedure done. Her surgery was performed by Dr. Saba Pario on 20-02-2022. She was discharged after four days of hospital stay. Saira Bano has been cured.
