Sakina Bibi, aged thirty-four, a resident of Lahore, has been suffering pain in her abdomen for the last two years. She went to the doctor and started taking symptomatic treatment but it didn’t relieve her pain and it kept getting worse. Upon further consultation, the doctor advised her for some tests for further evaluation. After evaluating the reports and Ultrasound scans, the doctor diagnosed with Cholelithiasis. Cholelithiasis is the medical term for gallstone disease. Gallstones are concretions that form in the biliary tract. The doctor advised Sakina Bibi to undergo a Cholecystectomy. A cholecystectomy is surgery to remove your gallbladder. But, unfortunately the cost of this procedure is beyond Sakina’s affordability.

Sakina’s husband works as a laborer and earns a sum of PKR. 15,000 a month. They are a family of four including their two children. With a family to raise and to provide with their basic necessities, in such gloomy circumstances, it is impossible for them to get this surgery done. Sakina shared her ordeal with Transparent Hands in the following manner:

The doctor advised her to undergo cholecystectomy. For this purpose, she was admitted to Life Hospital, Lahore, and her surgery was performed by Dr. Ahmed Fawad on 20-12-2021.
