Donate for Samina’s Knee Replacement
Samina Begum's Story
Samina Begum has been unable to stand up or walk without help for the last few months. Moreover, the pain has become unbearable for her. But, there is still good news. You can help her get back on her feet. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Samina’s knee replacement as much as you can.
For the last seven years, Fifty-Eight years old Samina Begum has been suffering from Osteoarthritis involving both knees. Osteoarthritis is a condition that causes the cartilage in the knee joint to thin out. In consequence, the surfaces of the joint become roughened, thus creating friction. As a result, the movement becomes painful, and the joint becomes stiff. Due to this condition, Samina is not able to get up or walk. Moreover, the pain has become unbearable for her.
To treat this, the orthopaedic surgeon has advised Samina to undergo a bilateral total knee replacement surgery. It is a surgical procedure to replace the weight-bearing surfaces of the knee joint to relieve pain and disability. At first, the orthopaedic will perform this surgery on the left side. Later on, as she recovers, it will be performed on her right side. While the knee replacement seems like an easy solution to all of Samina’s problems, it is certainly not an accessible solution.
Unfortunately, Samina cannot afford the hefty cost of a knee replacement surgery. During the pandemic layoffs, Samina’s husband lost her job. Therefore, they cannot afford the expense of Samina’s surgery. Samina’s son told us:
“My brother and I have been working tirelessly to save money for our mother’s surgery. It has been months, and we still haven’t saved even 2% of the amount required. We don’t know what else to do, so we have come to Transparent Hands.”
After a lot of distress, Samina Begum has registered her case with Transparent Hands. We wish to get her healthy and back up on her feet as soon as possible. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Samina’s knee replacement as much as you can.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
