Three years old Muhammad Shahzaib suffers from Distal Penile Hypospadias. It is a condition in which the opening of the urethra is at an abnormal location instead of at the tip. To treat this condition, the doctor has advised Muhammad Shahzaib to undergo a Urethroplasty. Urethroplasty is an open surgical reconstruction of the urethra. Without this surgery, Muhammad Shahzaib won’t ever get to live a normal life like other children.

Unfortunately, Muhammad Shahzaib’s parents cannot afford the hefty cost of the surgery. His father is the sole earner of the family. He works as a manual laborer with a construction company on daily wages. Despite long hours and hectic work, he hardly manages to earn PKR 15,000 per month. In this measly income, it is entirely impossible for him to save up for his son’s surgery. He told us:

“My boy needs some help, and he needs it now. I am not sure if we have any options except Transparent Hands left in our arsenal. It scares me to think about the future if this doesn’t work out as well.”

Muhammad Shahzaib's Story

Muhammad Shahzaib, aged 4 years, was born with a congenital condition known as Distal Penile Hypospadias in which the opening of his Urethra was not at its normal site, resulting in difficulty and abnormal urination. His condition is severe in nature and in order to correct it,tubular incised plate urethroplasty was advised. For this purpose, Muhammad Shahzaib was admitted to Akram Medical Complex, where his procedure was performed by Dr. Bilal Mirza on 03.07.2021. He was discharged from the hospital in a satisfactory condition after five days of stay.
