Shehryar Ahmed 's Story
Shehryar is a sweet child whose life will be changed by cochlear implant surgery. Without the surgery, he would be unable to learn and communicate well and he will be robbed of all the benefits of hearing the world around him. His loved ones have been saddened by his silence. We implore you to donate for Shehryar’s cochlear implant surgery so that he can function normally in life.
Five-year-old Shehryar, a resident of Swat, Shehryar has congenital sensorineural hearing loss. When he was one year old, his parents recognized something was wrong since he wasn’t reacting to their voices. His parents drove him to the nearest hospital, where he underwent testing. He was diagnosed with sensorineural deafness after a consultation. He was advised by the doctor to have cochlear implant surgery. A cochlear implant is a tiny electronic device that stimulates the cochlear nerve (the nerve that allows you to hear). The implant contains both exterior and internal components. The exterior portion is attached behind the ear. It processes the sounds using a microphone before sending them to the implant in the ear.
He lives in a small house with seven family members. His grandfather is the only earning hand. He works in the fields and earns only PKR 40,000 per month. Unfortunately, he cannot afford the surgical expenses and is in desperate need of help.. His grandfather said in distress:
“The fact that I was unable to put up enough money for his cochlear implant operation is my biggest worry for him. Please consider making a donation right now.”

They contacted Transparent Hands for financial assistance.
He was admitted to Ali Medical Complex, Islamabad, where Dr. Jawad performed his operation on 20-06-2023. The doctor fixed the internal component of the cochlear implant, and the operation was successful. He was discharged after one day in the hospital. However, he had a long way to go before his hearing was fully restored. After a few weeks, he returned to the hospital, where the external component of his cochlear implant was fixed, allowing him to enter a world of sound.
To enhance his language and communication skills, the doctor recommended that he needed speech therapy sessions to gradually grasp the intricacies and elegance of language, fostering a deeper understanding of speech.
His newfound auditory capability acts as a gateway to education, social engagement, and a richer life, facilitated by the cochlear implant that acts as a conduit to the world of sound. This implant empowers him to actively take part in conversations, ensuring he feels embraced and connected during social occasions. It enables him to forge significant bonds, share laughter, and create shared memories with his family, friends, and peers.
