For the last seven months, Sumaira has been expecting her third child. It is an event that promises to be very happy for the couple. But, unfortunately, this happiness is paired with fear and worry for the future. In her first pregnancy, Sumaira’s unborn baby was in a breech position. Babies lying bottom first or feet first in the womb instead of in the usual head-first position are called breech babies. Therefore, to prevent any danger to Sumaira and her baby’s life, the doctor advised her to undergo a C Section. Now, after follow ups and other investigation, the doctor has advised her to undergo a C Section again. Without a C Section, Sumaira and her baby’s life will stay compromised.
Unfortunately, the cost of a surgical procedure is beyond Sumaira Khuram’s affordability. Her husband is the sole earner of the family who is a factory worker. Despite taking longer shifts, he hardly manages to earn PKR 19000 per month. With a family of six to raise, he is in no position to arrange for his wife’s C Section. He told us:
“Me and my wife often stay up all night worrying about what is yet to come. Nothing seems to be making sense now. Transparent Hands is our only hope now.”

Sumaira Khurram's Story
Sumaira Khurram, a twenty seven years old woman, living in Lahore, was expecting her third baby. Previously she had two C-sections due to some complications. To avoid any risks and complications to both mother and the baby this time, the doctor advised her for an elective cesarean-section. For this purpose, Sumaira was admitted to Life Hospital. Her C-Section was performed by Dr. Abida on 09-08-2021, and a healthy baby girl was delivered. As both mother and daughter were doing well, so Sumaira was discharged after two days of hospital stay. Both Sumaira and her baby are now living a perfectly healthy life.
