Waseem Akhtar's Story

“There is not a single time in the last 10 years when the simple act of breathing did not feel like a mortifying ordeal. I want to breathe freely. There is no other blessing bigger than being able to breathe freely. ” -Waseem Akhtar

34 years old Waseem Akhtar has been suffering from nasal obstruction and post nasal drip for the last 10 years. Later, an ENT specialist diagnosed Waseem Akhtar with deviated nasal septum (DNS), enlarged inferior turbinates and, Sinusitis. These diseases, when combined, cause prolonged nasal congestion, difficulty in breathing and frequent nasal drip. Over the years, in search of treatment, he has been to several local hospitals and private clinics. But the medicines and other remedies failed to give him permanent relief.

The doctor advised a Septoplasty – a surgical procedure to straighten the bone and cartilage dividing the space between two nostrils. Along with Septoplasty, the doctor advised Waseem Akhtar to get a Submucous diathermy (SMD) as well. SMD is a process to reduce the bony ridges (turbinates) at the back of the nose using diathermy to relieve the blocked nose.

Hearing the cost of the surgeries played havoc with Waseem Akhtar’s life. He has to raise a family on a monthly income of PKR 12000. With the rising inflation and financial uncertainty, he is in no position to arrange his own surgical expenses.

Transparent Hands has decided to help Waseem have a septoplasty that can make his life easier, all we need from you is your help. Any donation coming through this portal for Waseem’s septoplasty will help him breathe more freely. So, please, donate for Waseem Akhtar’s nasal surgery and donate NOW!
