Ume Zahra's Story

Two years old Ume Zahra may seem like other children in appearance. But, the reality is a little different. Zahra needs an anal transposition surgery. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Zahra’s anal transposition as much as you can. 

Since birth, Ume Zahra had an abnormal site of the anal opening. This condition is known as Anteriorly Placed Anus. Anterior displacement of the anus is a common malformation that requires surgical intervention for correction. For this purpose, the doctor has advised Ume Zahra to undergo anal transposition. 

Unfortunately, Ume Zahra’s parents are unable to afford the hefty cost of this surgery. Ume’s father is the sole earner of the family. He works as a manual labourer with a construction company and hardly earns PKR 15000 per month. In this measly income, it is extremely difficult for him to put food on the table for a family of ten members. He cannot save for his daughter’s much-needed surgery. We had a conversation with him, and he told us:

“Construction work is tough. I get paid by the hour. Most of the days, I do not even have time to breathe or let a thought enter my head. Then, there are days when my head is full of thoughts like a bunch of bees around a honey pot. Then, I ask myself, how do you build homes for other people when your own life is falling apart?”

After a lot of distress, Ume Zahra’s parents have registered his case with Transparent Hands. We have assured them that we would try to arrange his surgery as soon as possible.
