Zakiya Akbar's Story
Zakiya has been feeling chest pain for a period of four weeks now and she is 50 years old. She lives with her son, who earns only 18000 rupees per month for 8 members of the family that solely depend on him. Zakiya badly needs the help of a cardiologist but the medicine and the procedure that is needed to relieve her of her pain is too expensive for her to afford. What a sad situation, won’t you say so!
To help her with her intensifying chest pain, Zakiya needs angiography and a PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention). This procedure is performed to prevent the coronary arteries from narrowing further, which may lead to a life threatening heart attack. To insert a stent inside the arteries of the heart, a thin tube known as a catheter is used. This will open them up a little so that further blockage and the complications associated with it are avoided. Listen to her as Zakiya herself says:
“I do not know why I keep having this terrible pain inside my chest but I am told it is because there is something wrong with my heart. It sure feels like it! I have been bearing it for a month now but I really want it to stop. They have told me that I need to be treated and I would need medicine as well. My son works very hard but I know it is unfair to ask him to pay for the treatment. My last hope is Transparent Hands and the kind folks who are reading my story!”
You can help Zakiya out by simply donating the money that she needs for her heart procedure. The recommended treatment is not only safe but also very effective. But we must reiterate. Your help is needed IMMEDIATELY!
