Zikriya Younus, a three-year-old resident of Memond, KPK, has been suffering from a congenital heart disease. He has been experiencing cyanosis and breathlessness since birth. Zikriya’s parents noticed his unusual pattern of often falling sick. Upon consultation, he was advised by the doctor to undergo a number of diagnostic tests to determine his illness. Zikriya’s reports revealed that he is suffering from Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is a group of four congenital heart defects. The doctor then advised him to undergo a TOF Repair – Open Heart Surgery. The goal of this surgery is to repair the defects of Tetralogy of Fallot so the heart can work as normally as possible. Repairing the defects can greatly improve a child’s health and quality of life.
Zikriya’s father is a laborer and hardly manages to earn PKR 10,000. In these gloomy times and with a meager income, it is impossible for Zikriya’s parents to afford the hefty cost of this procedure. However, they are still hopeful because they now know that donors like you exist in this world. Zikriya’s sorrowed mother expressed her feelings in the following words:
“ I pray that no mother has to live with the pain of seeing their child suffer every day. Whoever is reading this, if you are a parent yourself, I am sure you would be able to understand my pain. Please save my son.”

Zikriya Younus's Story
Three-year-old Zikirya Younas, a resident of Mehmond, had been suffering from high-grade fever and cyanosis. Upon consultation, he was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot. The cardiologist advised the repair of Tetralogy of Fallot. Hence, he was sent to the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital to get his surgery done by Dr. Salman Shah on 18-02-2022. He was kept under observation for six days and discharged in satisfactory condition. This surgery was made possible with the help of the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation. Zikriya is now slowly recovering.
