Malik Naveed Ijaz's Story
Naveed Ijaz is a 50 years old poor man who lives in a small house in Lahore with his wife, two school going children and divorced sister who is totally dependent on him. Naveed works in a factory as a material inspector and earns around 14,000 rupees a month but for some time, he is unable to go to factory due to his deteriorating health.
Naveed is a patient of degenerative joint since his childhood. He spent whole of his life with this condition. But for last 1.5 years, his joints got fixed due to which he is unable to walk without support. He is experiencing severe pain, swelling, stiffness and discomfort while sitting or laying down. Naveed went for detailed checkup where doctor advised him to undergo surgery to replace his degenerative joints. Naveed don’t have enough money to pay for his surgical expenses. He is not working from last few months and relying on loan he takes from various family members to meet his day to day needs. After medical evaluation, doctor has advised him to undergo Total Hip Replacement (two surgeries) to fix his joints. Naveed is scheduled for his first hip replacement surgery in a few days at Pakistan Society for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled (PSRD) by Dr. Afzal Hussain. After the surgery, he’ll be able to walk and work comfortably without any issue.
