Maryam Khan's Story

Maryam Khan is a 33 years divorcee who lives in her father’s home in Hattiyan village with her 5 years old daughter. Her husband divorced her 5 years ago after the birth of her daughter. Maryam moved to her father’s house consisting of one room only where her one unmarried brother is also residing. Her older brother is married and also living under same roof with his family.

Maryam was diagnosed with uterine fibroids around 5 years ago. She has been visiting various clinics for treatment but doctor has recommended her to undergo surgery. Maryam don’t have enough resources to get herself operated. She is a teacher at a local school and earning around 15,000 rupees a month. In such meager income, she is not only taking care of her daughter but is also supporting her family. She has been experiencing painful symptoms for last 5 years which have gotten worse with the passage of time. Along with frequent and prolong bleeding, she is suffering from massive blood loss that is causing her extreme weakness. Her hemoglobin reduced to 4g/de only, which is alarming.
