Muhammad Maaz's Story
“When I held Maaz for the first time in my arms, doctor informed me about his heart defect which needed surgery. I started trembling looking at his innocent face. I remember me and my wife were asking the doctor repeatedly – are we going to lose him?” – Maaz’s father
Muhammad Maaz is a 5 years old boy who was born with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). His skin turns bluish in color due to lack of oxygen in his body. He cannot eat properly and is underweight. This can cause severe malnutrition and stunted growth in future. His condition is deteriorating every day which may lead to serious complications like abnormal heart rhythms, seizures, clubbed fingers and even death.
Muhammad’s parents visited many hospitals for his treatment but they don’t have enough means to continue his medical procedures and pay for his open heart surgery. If this defect remains unfixed, his health can further deteriorate. Without timely surgery, a TOF patient cannot survive.
With tears in his eyes, Maaz asks his parents all the time, “when I’ll be able to go to school?” Little does he know that as the time is passing, he is getting one step closer to death. Staying in home all the time has shattered his confidence and he no longer wishes to play or go out.
Muhammad’s poor father does not have any cash in hand or sufficient savings to pay for his son’s surgery. He is a driver and earns only 12,000 PKR per month. Luckily, Mohammad Maaz is now registered with Transparent Hands and scheduled or his open heart surgery in a few days. This child now needs our help and support.
Our kind donation is the only way for his survival. Please make a donation urgently to save this innocent child’s life!
