“‘This cannot be true. I’ve been taking good care of myself. Maybe the doctors are wrong. Maybe I’m still pregnant’; this was the response when I broke the devastating news of 2nd miscarriage to my wife. She was not in a position to accept that she lost her child for the second time and God knows where we went wrong. It took me many months to console her. After all, she is a mother. No words can explain the pain she has gone through. My wife is now pregnant for the 4^th time, but we are afraid to lose our baby again.” – Rehana’s husband

Around 4 years ago, when Rehana took her baby boy in her arms, it was the most beautiful moment for her. Giggles of her newborn lightened her entire house. She and her husband took good care of her baby and he gradually grew up into a healthy child. In the meantime, Rehana got pregnant but due to some health issues, she lost her child even before delivery.

Losing a child is difficult for any mother and it takes months, sometimes years, to get over the loss. Rehana was relieved when she was pregnant again but unfortunately, she had miscarriage this time too. It was the toughest phase in this couple’s life. Rehana was broken and devasted and nothing could console her. She was not even able to look after her son properly.

Few months had passed, and she was again pregnant but this time, the doctor advised her to take extra care of her pregnancy and undergo C-section for safe delivery. Rehana’s husband is a rickshaw driver. His meager income of 15,000 PKR is not sufficient to pay for her surgical expenses.
