This 19 years old boy is fighting the battle of his life due to his congenital heart defect. Sohaib was only few days old when he was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) – rare condition caused by a combination of four heart defects that are present at birth. His parents took him to local hospitals but they could only provide him temporary relief through medicines. Doctor advised his parents to prepare him for Open Heart Surgery without which, his health could further deteriorate.

His parents requested many hospitals for free surgical treatment but nobody paid attention to them. Sohaib has spent all these years in severe pain. In 2010, his father died leaving his family in miserable condition. Sohaib has 7 sisters and 3 brothers. His elder brother is the only earning member of the family. He teaches Quran in different mosques and earns only 12,000 rupees a month. In such meager income, this family hardly makes both ends meet. Sohaib also loves going to school but due to his disease, he had to stop studying. Due to his heart defect, he felt severe pressure and infection in his brain. He underwent his first brain surgery in 2015 and second major surgery in 2017. Doctor told him to undergo open heart surgery as soon as possible otherwise he could face serious health complications which could be fatal.

He is experiencing difficulty in breathing and weakness. His skin also turns blue when he walks or plays. His family is very worried for him. Luckily, Sohaib’s brother came to know about Transparent Hands through someone and he immediately came here.

Sohaib is now scheduled for his Open Heart Surgery in a few days at Ittefaq Hospital. But his struggles don’t end here. He needs your support in his heart surgery. His mother says, “I have been seeing my child in pain since he was born. I already lost my husband and I can’t afford to lose my son. Please save his life”.

Sohaib Ahmed 19 years old boy had dyspnoea on mild exertion since birth. He was diagnosed to have Tetralogy of Fallot. He was advised corrective repair with open heart surgery. His surgery was done in Ittefaq Hospital through Pakistan Children Heart Foundation on 11-01-19 by Dr. Salman A Shah. His total correction was done along with replacement of pulmonary valve. He had good post op recovery during his 16 days of hospital stay. He was discharged in healthy condition.
