Sughran Bibi's Story

Sughran Bibi lives in a rural area of district Khanewal with her husband and 2 children. She has 4 more children but they are married and living separately. Her younger son is the only earning member of the family. He works in a local factory and earns around 9,000 rupees a month. Sughran’s husband also works at somebody’s land but he gets his payment after every 6 months once the land is fully cultivated. In such circumstances, this family hardly manages three times meal.

Around 10 years ago after birth of her youngest child, Sughran Bibi experienced severe abdominal pain due to which she was unable to sit and perform her household chores. She has persistently protruding lump coming from her genital tract. She took medicine from a local hospital in her area but that could only provide her temporary relief. She went to another hospital where she was diagnosed with Uterine Prolapse. Doctor advised her to undergo surgery to treat this condition but due to high surgery cost, Sughran Bibi couldn’t proceed. Ten years have passed. Sughran Bibi has been taking medicines for relief but now, her health is deteriorating with each passing day. She experiences painful symptoms including heavy bleeding, severe pain and vomiting. She is unable to even sit comfortably or walk due to pain.
