Donate to Anaya Bibi for Her PSARP Surgery
Anaya Bibi's Story
Anaya Bibi, almost 2 years old, suffers from a recto-vestibular fistula, which is a congenital anorectal disorder in which the anal opening is not in the proper position. In order to correct this, she requires PSARP surgery as soon as possible. Since she is still a child, she is at the ideal stage to get this corrective procedure done after which, she will be able to perform her bowel function normally.
Anaya Bibi’s first surgery for her condition, a colostomy, was done at a local hospital when she was just 7 days old. Since then, her PSARP surgery has been planned to construct her back passage at the normal site. In Gilgit, where Anaya and her family live, the medical resources are insufficient for her treatment, so her parents brought her to Islamabad. Unfortunately, none of the free, local facilities in Islamabad took Anaya’s case and private hospitals were demanding a sum well outside of her father’s reach.
“Most of our money was exhausted just on the cost of travelling from Gilgit to Islamabad repeatedly. We went from hospital to hospital but our struggle didn’t pay off. The only hospitals willing to admit my daughter were private ones that asked for money I don’t have. By the end of it all, I had run out of both money and hope.” – Anaya’s father
Anaya’s father, a taxi driver by profession, only earns around 17,000 PKR a month, 3000 PKR of which are spent on renting the small space that they live in in Gilgit. Owing to financial constraints, he has not been able to pursue his daughter’s treatment on his own. This is why he has approached Transparent Hands for help.
Anaya’s condition can be completely corrected with a simple operation. To help us arrange for that operation, please donate today!
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
Anaya Bibi's Story
Anaya Bibi, 1.5 years old, had an absent back passage. She was diagnosed with anorectal malformation. She was advised to get a posterior sagittal anorectoplasty surgery (a technique that surgically creates the child's back passage within the sphincter muscle). Her surgery was performed by Dr. Naeem Liaqat on 25-07-20 at Mariam Memorial Hospital. She remained admitted in the hospital for two days, during which she recovered well and was discharged in a stable condition. Present day, Anaya Bibi has resumed a normal life, without having to worry about anything.
