Asif Ali's Story

“Ever since my accident, I haven’t been able to work. The nature of my job is such that I need to move around. A security guard with a broken leg isn’t much good to anybody. Losing my job means there is no one to feed my wife and kids. The longer I sit with this injury, the worse it is going to get. I don’t want to reach a point where it cannot be healed anymore because then, I would be out of work for life. But despite the urgency of my situation, I am completely helpless because I don’t have the money to get my treatment.”– Asif Ali

Around 11 months ago, 42-year-old Asif Ali was crossing the road when he was hit by a negligent motorcyclist. The accident resulted in a fractured bone in his leg. Bystanders summoned an ambulance and he was immediately transported to the emergency room of the nearest hospital. The doctors there tried to fix his bone using an intramedullary nail/rod but it was heavily damaged and did not heal properly. Consequently, he progressed to nonunion of his right tibia and fibula. To heal, he requires the removal of the nail, debridement of the infected bone, and then an ilizarov application.

Before his accident, Asif worked as a security guard and earned 18,000 PKR a month. 5000 PKR were spent on renting a small house in Gujranwala, where he lives with his wife and 2 school-going children. The rest covered all the monthly expenses, including school fees. Post-accident, the family has no earning hand and cannot meet the expenses of basic necessities. Asif’s orthopedic surgery is a costly procedure and falls well outside his financial reach. With great difficulty, he came to Lahore to seek help at Transparent Hands.

Asif can recover from his accident and start his job again with financial assistance from you.

Any help in this difficult situation will be highly appreciated by him and his family.

Asif Ali's Story

Asif Ali, 42 years old, met with a roadside accident in which he broke his right leg. He got operated on at a local hospital but his bone did not unite and it was unable to bear weight ever since his first surgery. He was diagnosed as a case of non-union right tibia & fibula. He was advised surgery for this condition. His surgery was done in Akram Medical Complex, on 04-03-20, by Dr Zahid Siddique. In this first stage, an ilizarov fixator was applied to fix his leg bones and correct the position. He remained admitted for 3 days with smooth post-op recovery and was discharged with follow up advice.
