Bushra Khatoon's Story
It’s been years since I’ve seen my daughter smile. Now, we all are watching her helplessly, slipping away from us. Doctors said she may not live longer if she doesn’t undergo an angiography as soon as possible. Please do something for my daughter.” – Bushra’s father
Bushra Khatoon, 16 years-of-age is a young girl who has been suffering from a heart condition by birth known as single ventricle. She had her surgery of bidirectional glenn (BDG) procedure to improve oxygen saturation and build up for definitive surgery.
Her parents then took her to a heart specialist for conducting a follow up ECHO for her heart condition. He advised angiography followed by a Fontan procedure. This procedure involves redirecting blood flow from the lower body to the lungs. She needs to undergo an angiography as soon as possible as her heart condition is not improving and anything worse could happen to her. The cost of the procedures is beyond their affordability. The doctor then suggested they visit Children’s Hospital who might be able to conduct the procedures for free. They were denied help every time and Bushra’s condition has gotten worse. She gets breathless, her skin turns blue, and her fever shoots up.
Fortunately, they came to know about Transparent Hands and have appealed for free treatment.
Bushra’s family cannot afford to pay for her angiography or Fontan procedure. Her father is the sole earner of the family. He earns a meagre income by working at a local place of worship. He has 8 children to support with an earning of PKR 10000 a month. They live in a rented house and a quarter of his salary goes towards paying the rent.
“My daughter is in critical condition and she is admitted in the hospital. The doctors say she needs an angiography immediately. Please help us and save my dear daughter!” – Bushra’s mother.
Bushra does not deserve to die of her poor financial background. Please donate for her angiography and Fontan procedure before time runs out. Donate and save her life!
She is scheduled for her angiography followed by a Fontan procedure through Transparent Hands. Kindly donate for her cause and prevent a young girl from losing this battle.
