Fauzia Nazakat Ali's Story

46-year-old Fauzia hails from Haripur and was divorced almost a decade ago. Fauzia has no children, and she lives with her brother while earning her bread through labouring daily. All of these facts become irrelevant when one becomes aware of the fact that has turned Fauzia’s life upside down. Fauzia suffers from a condition called fibroid uterus. Fibroids, in case you are not aware, are tumorous masses that can develop in a women’s uterus and cause abdominal pain. Fauzia’s condition has worsened over the span of the last three years. From abnormal uterine bleeding to abdominal cramps, Fauzia has faced it all. But now, things have reached a point where something needs to be done on an immediate basis.

“My doctor says the only way out of this condition is undergoing a total abdominal hysterectomy. So, you see, there IS a flame of hope at the end of this dark tunnel of despair. But I need someone to grab my hand and walk me through this darkness”

Fauzia’s uterus and cervix will be removed in the surgical procedure she has been advised, but her pain will be over. This is something that Fauzia is desperately after, but a lack of funds for the operation is the major hindrance here. The dark tunnel that Fauzia refers to is her current financial status.
