Gulzar Ahmed's Story

Gulzar Ahmed, 72 years old, had a tragic fall from a flight of stairs about a month ago. He fractured the left neck of his femur and had other minor injuries as well. Age being a major factor in this, Gulzar Ahmed was suffering from a lot of pain and could hardly walk. Initially, he tried to manage his pain by taking a few painkillers, but the pain keeps getting worse day by day.

As a last resort, he decided to visit a private hospital. The doctors over there advised him to get a bipolar hemiarthroplasty – a surgical procedure in which one half of the hip joint is replaced with a prosthetic one.

It kills me to see my father not being able to walk and in so much pain. My mother has been bedridden for a couple of months now due to a stroke. I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if both my parents were to become bedridden. – Gulzar Ahmed’s son

They knew they couldn’t afford the cost of the surgery but luckily, someone at the hospital was kind enough to tell them about Transparent Hands and the fact that they would help them get the surgery for free. Without wasting any more time, Gulzar Ahmed’s son contacted Transparent Hands and registered with them as soon as possible.

The cost of the recommended operation is beyond their affordability. They are a family of four living in a 6 marla house. Gulzar Ahmed is a retired government schoolteacher who receives a pension of PKR 37,000 every month. His wife had a stroke a while back and is bedridden. Even though his sons earn and lend a helping hand in daily expenses, they still won’t be able to afford surgery at a private hospital.

We want Gulzar Ahmed to be back on his feet in no time. For us to be able to proceed further with the operation, he needs your generous donations. If you would like to support his cause, please click Donate Now.
