Hajra Iqbal's Story

Hajra Iqbal, 3-years-of-age is unable to run, play or breathe normally and frequently suffers from high fevers. These abnormalities restrict her mobility and rule out any chances of her living a normal healthy life. She has been suffering from patent ductus arteriosus since birth. A patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is an abnormal communication between the aorta and pulmonary artery that allows for oxygenated (red) blood to pass into the lungs.

She was taken to a local hospital due to a sudden attack of breathlessness. The doctors conducted a check-up and prescribed some medicines to her. They conducted some tests and diagnosed her. They also advised her to get PDA occlusion which is the closing of connection between the major blood vessels leading from the heart. Due to the rising numbers in coronavirus cases and closure of OPDs in local hospitals, Hajra was unable to get the treatment she needs. Overtime, Hajra’s condition has worsened and surgery is the only chance of her survival.

Her father – the sole earner of the family is a daily wage worker who hardly earns 10k per month. With a family of 7 to feed, he cannot afford the basic expenses of the family let alone bear the medical expenses of Hajra’s surgery.

“Some days after my shift I just used to pick her up and take her to the nearby park. I have stopped doing so because I cannot bear the look on her face when she sees other children running after each other playing hide and seek anymore. It breaks my heart to no measures.” – Hajra’s Father

Hajra’s parents have approached Transparent Hands to request urgent help. It is only through your help and donations that she can have the surgery that will put her life out of danger.

Please donate to her and give this little angel a chance to distribute candies on her 4th birthday, like most of you have.
