Hanan Kaleem's Story

Little Hanan’s life has been a series of rocky hills ever since he was born. The doctor diagnosed him with a congenital disease anorectal malformation when he was merely a week old baby. In an age where parents are planning their kids’ birthday parties, Hanan’s parents were arranging for his surgical procedures.

Hanan Kaleem has already gone through two steps of the procedure, an Ileostomy and ASARP surgery. Now, as the third step of the process, Hanan has to undergo an ileostomy reversal surgery to restore his bowel movements to normal.

Hanan’s father – the sole earner of the family, hardly earns PKR 15,000 per month. In these socioeconomic conditions, the cost of an ileostomy reversal surgery is beyond their affordability. Hanan’s parents have been circling back and forth to various local hospitals but due to COVID 19 pandemic and rising number of corona cases, they haven’t been able to get the urgent assistance they require.
