“I often blame myself for not paying attention to my son any sooner. He had been complaining about this pain for a year and we could not take him to a doctor. How could we? We are at the verge of dying from hunger here. Who has time or money to pay heed to  mild pains?” -Hashir Shahid’s father 

8 years old Hashir Shahid hails from a town named Katlang in KPK. For the past one year, Hashir had been complaining about a sore throat and trouble in swallowing. Due to extremely poor financial condition, Hashir’s parents were not able to take him to a doctor. Over the course of one year, the pain gradually increased. Now, Hashir cannot swallow his own saliva without wincing. At last, Hashir was taken to a hospital and upon thorough checkup, he was found to have Chronic Tonsillitis.

The doctor has advised him to undergo a Tonsillectomy as soon as possible. Tonsillectomy is a surgical procedure in which both his tonsils will be removed from the back of the throat.

Hashir’s father, the sole earner of the family, is a daily wage worker who hardly earns PKR 7000 per month. With a salary this lean, he is unable to even feed his children let alone pay attention to their medical needs. Thus, he is in no position to bear the financial distress of the surgery.
