55 years old Zeenat Bibi met with an unfortunate road accident while she was visiting a relative on a bike. Consequently, she sustained major injury to her hip joint. Her brother immediately took her to a local hospital. The doctors provided her with emergency healthcare and pain relief. However, Zeenat Bibi kept complaining about pain in her left hip joint. Moreover, she was unable to stand up or walk. After thorough x rays and examination, the doctor diagnosed her with NOF fracture on her left side. Neck of femur fractures (NOF) are the fractures in which the upper portion of the femur bone gets fractured as a result of injury.

To relieve the pain and help Zeenat Bibi walk again, the doctor has advised her to get a bipolar hemiarthroplasty as soon as possible. Hemiarthroplasty is an orthopedic surgery in which the hip joint is replaced with a metal prosthesis. A bipolar prosthesis has an additional artificial joint between the two components of the prosthesis which will help Zeenat Bibi get a complete range of motion.

Zeenat Bibi's Story

Zeenat Bibi, 55 years old, suffered from a terrible roadside accident on a motorbike. It resulted in an injury to her left leg. When she was taken to the hospital, the X-rays revealed that her left femur bone had fractured at the neck. The doctors advised bipolar hemiarthroplasty for her. Hemiarthroplasty is a type of surgical procedure. The surgeon replaces one half of the hip joint with a metallic prosthesis while leaving the other half intact. For this purpose, Zeenat was admitted in Akram Medical Complex and her surgery was performed by Dr. Naveed Ali Sher on 26.01.2021. She stayed in the hospital for four days and was discharged in a satisfactory condition. Zeenat is slowly recovering from her surgery and has started moving her leg.
