Jamila Bibi's Story

“We lost our father unexpectedly and we were still reeling from the shock of his death when we found out that Ama (mother) has cancer. I don’t know what the will of God is but I don’t know how I will survive if I lose her too. Please help her. Please.” – Jamila’s daughter

Jamila Bibi, 52 years old, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer a few months ago when she sought consultation for acute pain in her lower abdomen. She visited several local and charitable medical establishments for treatment but her request wasn’t entertained anywhere. Her son then borrowed 100,000 PKR from some relatives and got her admitted to a private hospital, where her surgery was done

Follow-ups after the surgery soon showed that Jamila Bibi had not recovered from cancer after the operation. Her oncologist has now advised that the best course of action is chemotherapy. She would require 8-10 injectable doses that would be administered two weeks apart.

Jamila Bibi’s diagnosis was very hard on her and her family. She had just lost her husband three months ago and soon after, she and her family received this piece of bad news. Not from a well-off background, she cannot even afford the chemotherapy treatment that could help her fight cancer. Jamila lives with three of her children in a small, one-room quarter temporarily granted to her by the government. Before the coronavirus outbreak, the only bread earner in the house was her eldest son, who earned a mere 20,000 PKR/month. After the outbreak, her son got fired and since then, there is no one to earn. Jamila and her family are living on borrowed resources.

In order to start her chemotherapy treatment, Jamila Bibi has asked Transparent Hands for assistance.

Please donate to her as much as possible to help her fight cancer and survive.
