“I didn’t have the money to go to the hospital. And we also didn’t have any charitable contacts that could lend us help, so I had no choice but to keep delaying visiting the doctor. It was only when my condition became unbearable that I finally went. The doctor told me a lot of damage has already been done.” – Kousar Parveen

Kousar Parveen, age 48, was experiencing continuous body aches, fatigue, and poor appetite for over 2 years. When she finally got tested, her PCR report showed that she has been a patient of chronic hepatitis ‘C’ for a long time, and has suffered extensive liver damage because of it. Her doctor has now given her a three-month-long treatment plan for her condition.

Kousar is financially not in a position to pay for her treatment. Her husband, a laborer, earns just around 400 PKR/day and is the sole earning hand for his wife and 10-year-old son. Kousar has three daughters as well, but they live separately, with their own families.

Liver damage due to chronic hepatitis also has chances of progressing to liver cancer, which is why Kousar’s doctor has recommended that she start the treatment as early as possible. On account of her financial state, she has requested Transparent Hands to help her out with the treatment.
