Mafia Nawaz's Story
“She can barely walk a few steps now. She either needs a walker or another person to support her. My daughter is such a strong independent girl. It breaks my heart to see her independence taken away from her.”- Mafia’s mother
Mafia Nawaz, age 17, was born with a clubfoot, a condition in which the foot is rotated inwards. Her condition has been neglected since birth. As a result, she has experienced mobility issues and knee pain all her life. In order to make her foot functional, she requires corrective orthopedic surgery.
Over the years, Mafia’s parents have consulted a few orthopedic surgeons but the surgery costs they proposed were too steep for them to meet. Mafia’s father, Muhammad Nawaz, is the only earning hand in the family. He barely earns 10,000 PKR a month and has to support 8 family members on his salary. His family’s basic needs go unmet because of a lack of resources, which is why his only option has been to postpone Mafia’s surgery over the years. Now, they have sought help from Transparent Hands.
They hope that after 17 years, their daughter can finally walk normally.
Please donate to Mafia to fulfill their dream.

Mafia Nawaz's Story
Mafia Nawaz, 17 years old, was unable to walk properly since birth. She was diagnosed with congenital talipes equinovarus (a common foot abnormality, in which the foot points downward and inward) in her left foot. She was advised to get surgery. Her surgery was performed by Dr Rauf Ahmad on 13-08-20 at PSRD. Her procedure included soft tissue release and triple fusion (STC +T/F). She remained admitted in the hospital for five days and later was discharged in good health. Slowly, Mafia is starting to return back to her normal life, just like other girls and boys her age.
