Mahnoor Fatima's Story

Mahnoor Fatima, 8 years old, is suffering from chronic tonsillitis that has resulted from repeated attacks of sore throat. She experiences high fever, acute pain in the throat, and difficulty in swallowing. To prevent repeated infections, her pediatrician has recommended her to undergo surgical removal of the tonsils, or a tonsillectomy because without it, her symptoms will continue to occur again and again.

“Her fever suddenly climbs really high and my poor girl is unable to eat or drink anything. She keeps crying when we try to feed her because it’s so painful for her to swallow.” – Mahnoor’s mother

Mahnoor’s father Muhammad Nasir, a car mechanic by profession, works hard six days a week but only earns a small salary of 20,000 PKR/month. Apart from Mahnoor, he has five other children who, along with his wife, are all dependent on his income. He not only has to handle all the household expenses but also has to pay 5000 PKR rent each month for the one-bedroom apartment that he and his family live in.

With numerous expenses to think of on a daily basis, it is not possible for Nasir to pay for his daughter’s surgery. This is where we, as socially responsible individuals, can step in and help. Mahnoor Fatima's Story

Mahnoor Fatima, 8 years old, was diagnosed with chronic tonsillitis and advised a tonsillectomy. She was admitted in the hospital and her surgery was performed by Dr. Nasheed Baig at Maryam Memorial Hospital on 16-09-2020. Her inflamed tonsils were removed. Mahnoor stayed in the hospital with a smooth post-operative recovery. She was discharged after one day of stay. She has recovered completely and started going to school as well.
