Mariya Sadiq's Story
“I have two sons so we really want a daughter this time. But boy or girl, I just want my baby to be healthy and safe and that is only possible with your support.” – Mariya
Mariya Sadiq, age 30 years, got married 6 years ago and has one 5-year-old son who is in nursery class and a younger 2.5-year-old son. Due to complicated pregnancies, both of her babies were delivered by C-sections at local hospitals. These surgeries were conducted at a reduced cost and Mariya was also lent financial help by relatives and friends. She is now pregnant for the third time and doctors have advised her delivery by C-section again. This time, she does not have enough resources for her surgery as she has not been able to secure an appointment at her local hospital and her relatives cannot help her out either.
Mariya’s husband, Muhammad Faisal, is a labourer who gets 400 PKR per day with an average of 10000 PKR per month. The family lives in a small house in a joint family system with two other families of her husband‘s brothers. All of Faisal’s income is exhausted on the expenses of his own family as well as the joint family.
Mariya and her husband do not have the resources to pay for this surgery but their baby can still make it to this world with your help.
