Mehboob Ali's Story

Mehboob Ali, 26 years old, has developed chronic tonsillitis that causes constant pain in his throat along with a high fever. Every few days, these symptoms resurface and he has had to complete multiple courses of antibiotics to fight them. In order to get rid of the problem for good, Mehboob requires a tonsillectomy surgery to remove the tonsils. Recently, he put in a request to Transparent Hands for help with this surgery, as he cannot afford it on his own.

“I was only 20 when my father passed away. With his passing, most of our relatives cut off ties with us as well. Since then, my family and I have been financially struggling on our own. My brother assumed the responsibility of the primary caretaker of the house. He works hard day and night to support us yet, we still run short of money even for our most basic needs.” – Mehboob Ali

Mehboob’s brother works with a blacksmith and earns around 17,000 PKR/month. All of the financial burdens of his family, which includes his wife and 2 children, is on him which is why it is next to impossible for him to manage the cost of his brother’s surgery. Mehboob found out about Transparent Hands when his village was visited by a social activist recently and immediately contacted here for help with his surgery.
