Mehwish Nawaz's Story

Mehwish Nawaz, 25 years old, got married about 5 years ago and has a 4-year-old son and a 2-year-old daughter. She is now pregnant with her third child. Both her previous babies were delivered through C-sections due to complications during labor. These operations were carried out at local hospitals, free of cost. This time again, she is expected to deliver through a C-section.

Mehwish’s husband is a labourer and earns 500 PKR per day, with an average of 8000 PKR per month. She and her family live in a small house temporarily granted to them by a landlord of their village in Khanewal. When Mehwish found out that she has to have an operation for delivery this time as well, she contacted her local hospital again. Even after multiple tries, however, she has not been given an appointment there. Since she cannot afford the surgery cost at a private hospital, she has appealed to Transparent Hands for help.

Mehwish Nawaz's Story

Mehwish Nawaz, 23 years of age, was about to have her 3rd childbirth. She had her surgeries done for previous childbirths. This time she was advised elective surgery again. Her C-section was done on 26-05-20, in Abid Hospital, Mian Channu, by Dr. Sadaf Aqeel. She was happy to give birth to a baby girl. She stayed for two days in the hospital and was discharged along with her healthy baby.
