Mubarik Ali's Story

Mubarik Ali, 63 years old, developed a lipoma at the nape of his neck 6 years ago. For the past five years, he has been consulting hakeems (local healers) for treatment but his condition has not gotten better. In recent weeks, he has been facing increased pain and has been advised by doctors to have surgery to excise the lipoma.

“I have two small children to look after so I do not get a lot of time to focus on my own health. There is no point when one is too poor to afford treatment. I tried to get by without the surgery for a long time but now the doctors say it is unavoidable and I am faced with the difficulty of gathering resources for it.” – Mubarik Ali

Mubarik works as a daily wage laborer in Kasur and earns 15,000 PKR a month. He lives with his 5 brothers as part of a joint family system. Part of his monthly income goes towards running the joint household. The rest covers the monthly expenditures of his two school-going children, who are dependent on him. Mubarik and his family cannot afford the expenses of his surgery and have requested Transparent Hands to arrange for it.

Mubarik Ali, 63 years old, had a lipoma in his neck region. He was advised excision of the lipoma. His operation was done on 03-06-20, in Lahore Care Hospital, by Dr. Ahmed Fawad. He was discharged in a stable condition after 3 days of hospital stay.
