Muhammad Arshad's Story

43-year-old Muhammad Arshad started experiencing pain in his hip joints 4 years ago. He was diagnosed with bilateral avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral heads. This condition is caused by disruption of blood supply to the proximal part of femur. The doctor prescribed some pain killers for temporary relief.

However, Arshad’s condition became worse. He experienced increasing pain and even required support while walking. Since his symptoms got unbearable, he decided to visit the hospital again. After conducting a few tests, the doctors recommended a total hip replacement surgery on the right side first since right side was causing more pain to him.

However, this surgery costs too much. Muhammad Arshad lives alone and makes both ends meet by his family’s support. He does not have the financial means to pay for his surgery.

“I live alone in my small house with no one to take care of me. My disorder is debilitating and I need support even for going from one room to another. Once, I was extremely thirsty at night, but could not muster the energy to get up because of excruciating pain in my hips”.- Muhammad Arshad.

An attendant in the hospital told him about our organization. He came all the way to our office to get himself registered.

Muhammad Arshad's Story

Muhammad Arshad, 43 years old, was diagnosed with bilateral hip joint avascular necrosis and was advised a total hip replacement surgery for his right side first since it was more painful. He was admitted in Akram Medical Complex and the surgery was performed by Dr. Abdul Latif Shahid on 16th Nov, 2020. He stayed in the hospital for four days and was discharged in a satisfactory condition. Arshad is slowly getting back on his feet now.
