Muhammad Iqbal's Story
Muhammad Iqbal, 40-years-old, fell down a flight of stairs about two years ago. This caused a fracture in his right leg’s femur – the bone in the thigh. He sought medical help on an urgent basis and the doctors fixed the plates in his right leg. He gained stability for 2-3 months, but little did he know that he would start to suffer from unbearable pain, yet again. He visited a government hospital again, and the doctors conducted a second surgery on him in which a metal rod was placed in his right leg’s femur.
Instead of recovering, Muhammad Iqbal’s wound got infected. Even with support from a walker, he was in a lot of pain and had given up. With support from his sons, he was taken to a government hospital, again. This time they weren’t lucky and were denied help.
In desperate need of medical assistance, his sons then took him to a private hospital. The doctor over there advised the removal of the nail and an application of an Ilizarov. In this surgery, an Ilizarov fixator is used to reshape leg bones in such infected fractures.
Muhammad Iqbal nor his sons got their hopes up because they knew they wouldn’t be able to afford treatment from a private hospital. Luckily, someone over there told them about Transparent Hands.
“I had given up. But God sent a miracle our way. I will forever be grateful to my sons who took me to the private hospital and to Transparent Hands who agreed to help me get the surgery.” – Muhammad Iqbal
He has a family of 6, living in a rented house. His wife is the breadwinner of the family, for the past 2 years. She works as a house maid and hardly earns PKR 10,000 a month out of which PKR 7000 is their rent. They have had to survive on water and dry bread on most days.
Muhammad Iqbal has to provide for his family. Your support can get him back on his feet. He needs all the help he can get.

Muhammad Iqbal's Story
Muhammad Iqbal, 40 years old, had an unfortunate accident in which his right leg broke above the knee. His femur fracture was treated with an intramedullary nail which resulted in an infective non-union. Iqbal started feeling excruciating pain in his leg again and on further consultation, he was advised nail removal and application of Ilizarov apparatus. For this purpose, he was admitted in Lahore Care hospital and the procedure was performed by Dr. Abdul Latif Shahid on 08.10.2020. Iqbal stayed in the hospital for two days. His femur was fixed with this fixator and he was discharged in a stable condition. He is recovering slowly and is feeling better now. “The doctor has finally removed the nail in my leg. I have taken ample rest after my surgery and have even learnt to walk with the Ilizarov frame.”- Muhammad Iqbal
