Muhammad Umair's Story

Muhammad Umair, 6 years old, started exhibiting breathlessness, irritability, and a poor appetite a few days after birth. His parents took him to a local hospital for a check-up. The doctor there ran his ECHO test and X-ray, which revealed that he has a congenital heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). He has four different abnormalities in his heart, all of which affect his heart’s structure and circulation. In order for Umair’s heart to function normally, he requires open-heart surgery called a total correction.

Umair’s father earns a mason’s wage of 10,000-12,000 PKR a month. He has 3 children in total and is the only earning hand in the family, which is why he has to struggle a lot to meet his family’s monthly basic needs. On account of these financial restrictions, despite the urgency of Umair’s condition, he has still not been able to have his surgery. When Umair’s father found out about Transparent Hands during one of his visits to the hospital, he immediately requested help for his son.

I was desperately trying to follow every lead that came my way to somehow get my son operated before his condition got worse. My search led me here and I hope and pray that this is it. I want to request the donors to please help Umair because after this, I don’t have anywhere else to take him.” – Umair’s father, Arshad Mehmood

Your donations to Umair can put his life out of danger. Please help us arrange for his cardiac surgery at the earliest.

Muhammad Umair's Story

Muhammad Umair, 6 years old, suffered from shortness of breath and cyanosis on little exertion since he was born. His parents took him to the doctor to find the reason behind the manifestation of these symptoms. After an ECHO test, it was discovered that Umair was born with a cardiac defect called Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). For repair of this defect, the doctor advised an open heart surgery for total correction. For this purpose, Umair was admitted in Ittefaq hospital and his surgery was performed by Dr. Syed Salman Ahmed Shah on 07.01.2021. He stayed in the hospital for nine days and was discharged in a satisfactory condition. Umair is recovering quickly from his major surgery. The surgery was conducted with the support of Pakistan Children Heart foundation and other donors.
