Munirran Bibi, 40-years-old, is suffering from a goiter disease for many years. Earlier, her goiter was small but a couple of months ago, it significantly increased in size.

Now, Muniraan Bibi has developed serious symptoms such as; pain and breathing difficulties during sleep, resulting in sleep deprivation and tiredness. The doctor has advised surgery – a subtotal thyroidectomy; the surgical removal of the thyroid gland as a permanent cure.

Her husband is the sole breadwinner of the family and relies on daily wages, earning only 10,000 PKR a month. They are a family of four living in a house that was given to them by their aunt out of goodwill. There has been a time when the family has survived on water and bread as well.

Muniraan Bibi's Story

Muniraan Bibi, 40 years old, had a lump in front of her neck for five years. The lump increased in size in the last few months. On medical consultation, she was diagnosed with multinodular goiter and was advised thyroid surgery. The doctor advised surgical intervention. For this purpose, Muniraan was admitted in Akram Medical Complex and her subtotal thyroidectomy was performed by Dr. Ahmed Fawad on 03.12.2020. She stayed in the hospital for three days and was discharged in a stable condition. She is gradually recovering from her major surgery.
