Nagina Bibi's Story

Nagina Bibi, 26 years of age, has been suffering from a lot of pain in the right hypochondriac area along with vomiting and abdominal stretch from the past year. After visiting a doctor, she was diagnosed with cholelithiasis – commonly known as stones in the gallbladder. The doctors advised her to get a lap. cholecystectomy – a surgery in which the gallbladder is removed. The doctor recommended her to get the surgery as soon as possible to gain permanent relief from the pain.

“I have been enduring this pain from the past year. But lately, it has become unbearable. Since the past 3 months I have been in so much pain and feel nauseous all the time. My stomach cannot digest anything, and I vomit instantaneously. Standing up to walk makes me lightheaded every single time.”

For the last three months, her symptoms have gotten worse. Not having enough resources to pay for the surgery herself, Nagina Bibi visited many doctors asking them to operate on her free of cost. Nagina Bibi got married about five years ago and has a four-year-old son. She would spend most of her time at home cooking, cleaning, and looking after her son. The 5-marla house that they currently live in is gifted to them by her parents. Her husband runs a small tuck shop in their village and earns PKR 300 daily with an average of PKR 6000 per month, which hardly covers their household expenses. They are surviving on the bare minimum, without being able to fulfill their son’s nutritional needs as well.

Nagina Bibi's Story

26-year-old Nagina Bibi was diagnosed with stones in her gall bladder. The doctor recommended a laparoscopic cholecystectomy for her. She was admitted in Abid hospital and the surgery was performed by Dr. Abdul Saeed Sajjid on 06.10.2020. Her gall bladder was removed in the surgery. Nagina stayed in the hospital for two days and had a smooth post-operative recovery. She was discharged in a stable condition. Because of the removal of gall bladder, her abdominal pain has subsided. She looks forward to participating in her household chores after healing completely.
