Nasreen Akhtar's Story

Nasreen Akhtar, 35 years old, is pregnant with her third child. She has two daughters, who are 5 and 3 years old. She experienced difficult prolonged labor during both her previous deliveries due to which, her children were delivered via lower segment C-section (LS CS). Given her history, her third baby is also scheduled to be delivered in the same way.

“I know stress isn’t good for me while expecting but I cannot help it. We aren’t just worried about where to get this month’s groceries to feed our children, we are worried about the life of our new child. If we don’t find the resources for the operation, God knows what might happen when it is time for the delivery.” –Nasreen shared her concerns with TH

Nasreen’s husband, a rickshaw driver, is currently out of work due to the coronavirus lockdown. Before the lockdown, he earned 12,000 PKR a month on average. With this, he fed 4 mouths and ran the small house temporarily granted to him by his parents. Now, he does not have an income to rely on. With a child on the way, this situation is very stressful for this couple because they do not even have the means to arrange for the delivery operation. Nasreen and her husband visited several local hospitals for a free procedure but were unsuccessful. They have now approached Transparent Hands and asked for help.

Nasreen Akhtar's Story

Nasreen Akhtar, 35 years old, was about to have her 3rd childbirth. She had her surgeries done for previous childbirths. This time, she was advised elective surgery again. Her C-section was successfully done on 05-06-20 in Abid Hospital, Mian Channu, by Dr. Sadaf Aqeel. She stayed for two days in the hospital and was discharged along with her healthy baby.
