Naveed Ullah's Story

“He can only lie down on his right side because his left leg constantly hurts, and he is always groaning in pain. He is too young to be bedridden. He has family to take care of. If he loses hope, then what will his children do?” -Naveed Ullah’s daughter

Naveed Ullah, 31 years of age, has been suffering from a left osteonecrosis of the hip, commonly known as avascular necrosis (AVN) of the hip, which is the death of the femoral head as a result of the vascular disruption since the age of 15 years.

Since his family couldn’t pay for the operation, someone helped him get his first surgery, but it was unsuccessful, and Naveed now needs a total hip arthroplasty of his left side- a surgical procedure to restore the function of the hip joint. A joint can be restored by resurfacing the bones as soon as possible. Without the operation, his leg will become stiffer and will cause great pain. He is unable to support his bodyweight and his mobility has been brought to an abrupt halt.

Due to the very obvious reasons, Naveed Ullah cannot work to earn for his family. Therefore, he is completely dependent on his children and his wife but unfortunately there are days where they don’t get even one meal a day.

“My wife is the sole breadwinner for our family. She pays for my expenses by cutting back her own. She earns a very small amount but chooses to share even that with all of us including my aged mother. If she weren’t around, I don’t know how I would have survived.” – Naveed Ullah

Naveed Ullah’s wife is solely responsible for his family’s financial needs but her very limited income cannot support the cost of his surgery.  She has registered her husband’s case at Transparent Hands hoping that enough donations can be collected for Naveed’s operation.
