Rabia Ihsan's Story
1-year-old Rabia Ihsan is presenting with swelling, pain, and irritability in her right inguinal region. She has been diagnosed with a right inguinal hernia and advised a herniotomy surgery to fix it. Her parents tried to get her an appointment at a local hospital but she was given a surgery date in 2021. Since Rabia is in a lot of pain right now, she cannot wait for an appointment that is almost a year away.
“The hospital point-blank refused our request for an earlier appointment because everyone is swamped with dealing with the coronavirus situation right now. And they informed us that all local hospitals are under the same burden so we shouldn’t be too hopeful. But my daughter is crying all the time because her tummy hurts and I can’t just ignore that because the hospitals are overburdened.” – Rabia’s father
Owing to her family’s financial constraints, Rabia cannot have the surgery at a private hospital. Her father only earns 15,000 PKR as a laborer and has to pay 7000 PKR rent, which is almost half of his income. Despite having a small family of only 3 members, this amount does not suffice for even basic monthly expenses.
Rabia requires your help to have this surgery. To aid her, please help us raise enough donations to make her surgery possible.
Disclaimer: Transparent Hands makes sure that all the patients get surgery in time. If a patient requires urgent surgery and his/her condition is serious, Transparent Hands conducts the surgery immediately.
