Saeed Mai's Story

“At first it wasn’t that bad. My left eye got a little hazy but I could still see fine. But over time, it deteriorated so much that I can barely see out of it now. I almost tripped a few times and could have had a serious accident.”- Saeed Mai

Saeed Mai, 50 years of age, has been diagnosed with a cataract in her left eye. Due to this condition, the lens of the eye gets clouded, reducing the vision. To restore her vision, cataract surgery is required in which the lens of her eye will be replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL).

Saeed Mai has four sons and two daughters. Both her daughters are studying in government schools whereas her sons are daily wage laborers. She and all her children live as part of a large joint family system. Collectively, her sons’ income is under 30,000 PKR, a very small amount to support a big family. Since their financial circumstances do not allow for medical costs, Saeed Mai has had to delay her cataract surgery for quite some time. Now, her sons have requested Transparent Hands to arrange for her surgery.

Living with compromised vision is dangerous for Saeed Mai at this age. Help us raise the cost of her cataract surgery.

Please donate to her.
