Samiya Riaz's Story

Samiya Riaz is a 33-year old female from Lahore. She is pregnant as we speak, with the second child of her life. Samiya belongs to a financially troubled family. Three more families live with them in the rented house and most of her husband’s monthly income i.e. 15,000 PKR/month is spent in paying rents. In the 38th week of her pregnancy, Samiya was told by doctors that her delivery will be via LSCS, a costly surgical procedure. For a family of five who struggles to make both ends meet, the news meant more financial pressure on the inmates of the house.

Lower segmentation Caesarean section or commonly dubbed as LSCS is the most common type of C-section. In this surgical procedure, an incision is made to minimize blood loss during birthing. A cut is made a little above the urinary bladder’s connection with the uterus. The location of this incision is the lower segment, hence the process is called lower segmentation C-section. The biggest benefit associated with this type of C-section is the quick recovery of the maternal tissues.

But none of this detailed information means a word to Samiya if she cannot manage to raise enough funds for the operation. The uncertain situation has the mother entrapped and entangled by fears of all sorts. She says:

“Sometimes, I wonder why life throws such challenges at us. I am not worried about myself. But if the funds are not arranged in time, a baby will never see what this world is like. I cannot hide the fact that the uncertainty of my and my baby’s future has made me an anxious and tense woman of late”

Transparent Hands has responded to Samiya Riaz’s desperate calls. We have told you enough to get you started as well. It is time to play your part. Donate NOW for Samiya Riyaz’s lower segmentation C-section!
