Donate to Shakila Hayat for Her AV Fistula Formation
Shakila Hayat's Story
4 years ago, Shakila Hayat, now 40, started suffering from kidney problems, which manifested after high blood pressure and extensive swelling in her legs. Her doctor advised her to visit him every week so that the progression of her problem could be closely monitored. On her way to one such visit, Shakila’s condition suddenly worsened and she fainted. From that point onward, she was diagnosed with Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) and it was decided that she requires regular dialysis.
To start, Shakila’s dialysis was done twice a week through a vessel in the neck. Now, however, the process isn’t as efficient anymore and she requires the formation of an AV fistula on her arm to continue dialysis. Due to her inability to afford this procedure, she has asked for help from Transparent Hands.
Shakila’s husband works hard to make ends meet but at the end of the day, he only earns a small daily wage of 300-400 PKR and with this salary alone, he supports himself, his wife, and 5 children, who are all of school-going age.
“God has given us just enough to feed ourselves once or twice a day and I am grateful to Him. But beyond that, everything is a luxury for us. I got lucky that my free dialysis was approved at a local hospital. Otherwise, the way my condition was deteriorating, who knows how long I would even have lived. With regular dialysis, I am slowly getting better and I want to keep improving. I want to request everyone to please help me continue my dialysis.” – Shakila
Shakila’s only possible resource at this point is the aid she can get from you for her surgery. If you wish to help her out, please donate to her today.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
Shakila Hayat's Story
